In celebration of Song Joong-ki’s birthday, his official fan club Ki Aile donated around 19.8 million won ($17,544) to help children with leukemia and cancer.

“(We) wanted to support him as we heard that Song Joong-ki has been supporting children with leukemia and cancer through the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation since 2011,” Ki Aile said. “We hope our small support can give children undergoing treatment a heathy and bright future.”

The donation amount -- 19,850,919 won -- stands for the actor’s birthdate: Sept. 19, 1985. It will be used to support stem cell transplantation for children.

Ki Aile started making such donations in September 2016 in celebration of the actor’s birthday. The fan club has since made donations three times including a contribution to celebrate the actor winning the best actor award at the KBS Drama Awards.
