Hyeri of K-pop group Girls’ Day and actor Um Tae-goo are considering starring in the upcoming comic flick “Dempsey Roll.”

Hyeri and Um’s agencies on Friday said that the celebrities had recently been asked to take lead roles in the movie, and are “positively considering” the offer.

“Dempsey Roll” will center on Byunggu, who has stopped boxing after suffering from punch drunk, a cerebral concussion caused by repeated blows to the head.

The story unfolds as the ex-boxer regains his strength to resume boxing with the help of Minji, a new member at his boxing gym. Um and Hyeri were offered the roles of Byunggu and Minji, respectively.

Um has played supporting roles in films such as “Coin Locker Girl,” “Veteran” and “The Age of Shadows.” Hyeri, a singer-turned-actress, played a leading role in the TV drama “Reply 1988.”

The title of the upcoming movie stems from the boxing technique called “Dempsey Roll,” which was pioneered by boxer Jack Dempsey in 1920 and allows a boxer to generate tremendous power while expending minimal energy.

The movie will start shooting in April.
