Pentagon to release new EP on Sept. 19
After a lineup change last week when E’Dawn and Yan An went on temporary leave, Pentagon intends to put out a new EP in September.
According to its agency, Cube Entertainment, Friday, the group will release its seventh EP, “Thumbs_Up!” on Sept. 10. It will mark the band’s first album since the April hit “Shine” became one of the biggest K-pop tracks of the year.
A teaser image that hints at the upcoming album’s concept features frogs croaking against a backdrop of vibrant green.
The news follows the Aug. 22 announcement by Cube that E’Dawn -- who has been credited as the band’s main songwriter -- and Chinese member Yan An were taking a break from the band’s activities. Yan An was experiencing health issues, the agency stated, without elaborating.
Meanwhile, E’Dawn was embroiled in controversy after going public with a romantic relationship with bandmate HyunA earlier in August. Having dated for more than two years, the couple debuted together as members of K-pop trio Triple H in May last year. Fans gave the two idols the cold shoulder in return, saying they felt deceived.
Since going public, both HyunA and E’Dawn have been keeping a low profile, avoiding public events and TV cameras.
