After dominating the tabloids over fraud allegations against her father -- with some reports insinuating her involvement -- singer Ha:tfelt opened up about the issue to proclaim her innocence.

Local media reported Monday that Ha:tfelt had been sued in March over allegations that she had taken part in fraudulent activities orchestrated by her pastor father.

Following the report, the singer told a news provider that she was not “reckless” or “foolish” enough to be involved in such activities.

“I’ve been in the public eye for over a decade since my debut, first as a Wonder Girls member and then as Ha:tfelt. It’s not much money, but I’ve earned enough money to eat what I want to eat and support my family. Logically, there is no reason for me to be involved in such activities,” she said.

With tears in her eyes, she continued, “I will not forgive my father, and I promised my family that I would sever ties with him. It’s heartbreaking, but I’m innocent and have nothing to do with this matter, and I will stand strong and cooperate faithfully with the investigation.”

The singer also disclosed that she had been estranged from her father for years, ever since he divorced her mother after having an affair.

Ha:tfelt debuted in 2007 as a member of the K-pop girl group Wonder Girls, using the moniker Yeeun. She made her solo debut in 2014 under the stage name Ha:tfelt with her first solo EP, “Me?”

Following Wonder Girls’ disbandment in January 2017, the singer moved from JYP Entertainment to Amoeba Culture, becoming the first female solo artist to be represented by the label in 11 years.
