K-pop boy bands are defying gender roles by experimenting with makeup, which is often considered as “women-only” in many cultures.

They are showing that makeup is not gender specific, overcoming rigid stereotypes.

The Korea Herald’s take on the matter is that makeup is an expression of personality, which anyone of either gender is free to experiment with.

“Maybe in the future, it’s the men who are wearing makeup while women aren’t,” said the reporters, opening up a meaningful discussion on gender stereotypes.
