Rapper Microdot has come under fire after fraud allegations were made against his parents.

On Monday, one unidentified internet user posted a story online claiming that the artist’s parents had committed fraud and run away to New Zealand about 20 years ago. As rumors spread on social media, Microdot issued a statement on the same day saying that he will be taking legal action against the “false rumor.”

But local media were quick to report that Microdot’s parents were sued in May 1997 after borrowing hundreds of millions of won from about 10 people and going into hiding, citing a document that was issued by police when a lawsuit was filed. The document also showed that the victims included cousins of the rapper’s parents.

Meanwhile, the controversy also poured cold water on his budding career as a TV personality, as he has recently gained recognition by appearing in variety shows such as “The Fishermen and the City” and “I Live Alone.”

Netizens have been bombarding Microdot’s social media account with critical comments, while requesting TV channels to cancel his scheduled appearance on variety programs.

Microdot is currently starring in “The Fishermen and the City” and is set to appear in the upcoming show “Pocha Beyond Borders.”

Microdot has strongly denied the allegations against his parents, saying that he will take a legal action.
