Blackpink wows US audience on ‘Good Morning America’

Blackpink made the group’s live US TV debut and wowed viewers Tuesday, performing on ABC’s flagship morning show “Good Morning America” ahead of its US tour.

The four-piece girl group performed its latest single “Ddu-du Ddu-du” on the show to a cheering crowd at the Times Square studio in New York before being introduced by presenter Lara Spencer, who told the viewers, “Their song ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du’ has nearly 660 million views on YouTube.”

The group’s powerful performance lit up Twitter with one user writing, “The Queens are here and they bring the storm with them,” accompanied by the hashtag #BLACKPINKonGMA.

Another fan wrote, “So proud of my girls,” with a video clip of Blackpink featured on an electronic billboard at Times Square.
Appearing live in the studio for an interview, the group was asked about the North American tour announced the night before
.
Sounding nervous, Jennie said, “We are starting in April and we are very, very excited for it. It’s finally happening.”

When asked about the timing of the US promotion, Rose said, “We recently got invited to perform at Coachella, which was unbelievable” before adding she felt it was the right timing to kick off the US tour.

The group will perform at the Coachella music festival on April 12 and 19 before embarking on the six-date tour across the US and Canada, then head to Europe afterward.

Rose added that she celebrated her 22nd birthday the night before with just the four bandmates at a nice Italian restaurant, sharing a snapshot of their dinner.

Having appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” previously, the band will next appear on ABC’s “Strahan and Sara” on Friday to further expand its US presence.
