Having recently wrapped up its Latin American tour, VAV has come out with a new album, “Thrilla Killa,” featuring a lead single of the same title.

“Since we’ve been on our world tour since last year, we didn’t have much opportunity to promote (our music) in Korea, and we’ve always missed those times. I couldn’t sleep at all last night due to mixed feelings of nervousness and excitement,” said ACE during the act’s media showcase in Seoul on Monday.

Much to the dismay of fans, Chinese member Jacob is not joining the “Thrilla Killa” promotions due to prior commitments in China.

VAV’s new album, which follows last year’s Latin-inspired “Senorita,” leads with a sultry retro-pop track inspired by ’80s pop legends such as Michael Jackson, Phil Collins and Prince.

The seven-piece act explained that the bandmates had tried to focus on their wild sides, emphasizing masculine energy.

“The song’s choreography depicts the untamed energy of wild animals, while some of it pays homage to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller,’” Baron said.

“We’ve been working on this song even ahead of our world tour. We wanted to showcase it to people as soon as possible,” Lou said.

The event also saw the six members taking turns making presentations to reporters about the group, confidently introducing the act as a global “hot” rookie band equipped with language skills, wide musical abilities and various talents.

“We decided to make this presentation to further promote our group to you (reporters). We are a global idol group receiving spotlight from all around the world. We are proficient in various languages such as Chinese, Japanese, English and Portuguese, and we can handle any kind of concept,” said group leader St. Van.

While they haven’t yet attained the highest profile on the local K-pop scene, the VAV singers have been dubbed “global super rookies.” Since last year, the act performed in 23 cities around the world spanning the US, Brazil, Europe, Japan and Thailand, and it recently wrapped up its “VAV 2019 Meet & Live Senorita Latin Tour” of Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Mexico.

“We have so many good memories from our world tour. I think our bond got much stronger compared to our early days. We just got to love each other so much,” Ayno said.

ACE also expressed his hope of promoting the group even further, saying, “We are confident with our new album, as its concept really suits us. I feel like we’re finally wearing right outfit for us. We hope more people will recognize us.”

VAV is set to expand its world tour to North America in April and May and hold concerts in Toronto, Jersey City, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
