“I think this is the first time I am trying this and wanted to show you,” she said, showing off the braided hair that framed her face and offset her long brown mane.

“No matter how many times I do this, it is still awkward,” she admitted, asking the staff around her to help her out.

It was the third day of the band’s arena concerts in Nagoya. On Wednesday, the group will attend the 2019 Mnet Asia Music Awards in the same city -- “a chance to meet more Japanese fans,” said the idol.

Although they hadn’t yet been to the awards venue, the bandmates had rehearsed their performance for the ceremony.

“(The staff) have been very attentive and I believe the stage will be quite beautiful,” said Tzuyu.

She also mentioned the new song released by Park Jinyoung, the head of her agency.

“We saw him practice the choreography before it came out and we were amazed at how upbeat and cool it was, both the melody and the dance,” said the performer.

“Although it has only been two days, I personally am satisfied with short yet powerful performances,” said Hueningkai.

“I was really surprised to hear his part live. It was as if he had devoured the CD,” said Taehyun, adding that he was sad they could only showcase three songs even though they’d made eight great tracks.

“It was nice to follow up the title track with ‘Angel or Devil,’ though, since MOA loved it the best,” said Yeonjun, referring to the band’s official fandom.

Soobin also brought up the good news: winning a rookie award at the 2019 Melon Music Awards.

The quintet talked about the performance, chuckling that the “devil” had been too cute -- almost like Baikinman, a character from the Japanese animation “Anpanman.”

Regardless, Soobin did a good job fighting it, the members agreed.

“It was not easy as there was a last-minute change, but thank you,” said the leader. He also thanked the dancers who’d had to crawl on the floor during the performance, which made use of shadows. It may look nice and cool, but at the back it can be gruesome, he said.

“We were a little tired before we turned this on, but our energy seems to get a boost when it’s close to midnight,” whispered Chaeryeong.

They thanked their fans for helping them win the female rookie award at the 2019 Melon Music Awards.

“That actually is the biggest reason for taking to V Live. We wanted to show our gratitude,” said Chaeryeong.

“We did not say thank you enough,” Ryujin added.

“And I said ‘really’ so many times,” said Yeji, laughing about her acceptance speech. Her bandmates assured her she’d done OK, except for repeating the word quite a few times.

“Weren’t we really good onstage (at the award ceremony)?” asked Yuna.

“Dazzling, right?” chimed in the leader, making everyone burst into laughter.

“You really are full of confidence,” said Lia with a laugh, before confiding that although she had been nervous, she had also been eager to put on a performance for their fans.

“Hyungwon has a shot at turning into a rapper,” said Jooheon, the team’s main rapper, recommending battle rap for the main dancer. He also picked Minhyuk as a likely candidate, saying he could do performance rap.

“Are you just saying what comes out of your mouth?” protested Minhyuk.

“We will be doing three songs: ‘Alligator,’ ‘Play It Cool’ and ‘Follow,’” explained Jooheon. I.M would do the opening for the repertoire with a solo rap, and it was nice that the youngest member had such an impressive talent, he added.

“I was amazed by myself when I saw the monitor yesterday at the rehearsal,” said I.M, shaking his head in mock disbelief. His solo performance is another chance to become a Monbebe, a member of the band’s official fandom community, he said confidently.
