Seoul’s upscale Gangnam district has recently decided to install a “Gangnam Style Statue” in bronze, with a reported budget of about 400 million won ($350,000) according to local news Thursday.

Earlier on Oct. 28, the district office posted a public notice for bidding on the Korea Online E-Procurement System website for the “Installment of Gangnam Style Storytelling Landmark.” According to the notice, the budget allocated for the project is estimated to be about 400 million won.

“The absence of any significant tourist attraction (related to ‘Gangnam Style’) in Korea is considered a serious problem. The statue will be a great landmark reflecting the popularity of the once worldwide hit, Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style,’” said a government official.
